Toronto Punk Rock Band Hormoans Release New Music Video “Kids Suck” off New Album “Ground Score”

HORMOANS are a fun, underdog rock band, described as “a tornado mix of punk and grunge with a surf mutation” by Exclaim!

After their first two LP’s captivated the local Toronto scene and garnered attention from media outlets, the band jumped into the studio with engineering masterminds Greg Dawson (Moneen, MARE) and later with Darren McGill (METZ, PUP). Armed with exciting new material (and a hearty bone to pick), the band released their eagerly anticipated new LP, “Ground Score” on May 31st, 2024. Give it a listen below!

Hormoans also released a new music video for the first single, “Kids Suck”, which is turning heads in all of the right directions!

The song “Kids Suck” was actually one of the very first HORMOANS songs ever written, and it is penned from the brain of a bratty kid – the word “Kids” is actually referring to an ex-girlfriend, who actually influenced a lot of the music and lyrical content at the time.  It’s a tongue in cheek meditation on growing up without any real solid trust in the future.  The video was shot and edited by Steve and Leni (Zmuda Films), and was inspired by their friends’ comedy band, Thunder Crap, where they do a lot of fun green screen/cut out videos.  “It was meant to be a collage-based, screen-print attack on the viewer…in like a trashy-type way”, Steve says.

“The new record “Ground Score” was really fun to make – we incorporated a lot more people on this LP; from multiple producers, engineers, artists, musicians…it was a true collaborative effort.  Steve had this idea for the art that followed a 1970’s beach scene aesthetic, which lends to the surf-punk sound nicely.”  The vinyl records are available NOW at Dead Dog Records, Neurotica Records, and She Said Boom in Toronto.

Current band line-up is:

Steve – Guitar/vocals
Cyrus – Drums/vocals
Nate (new member) – Bass

The band are currently booking a summer run of shows in the GTA, with the next coming up on Saturday, July 13th at the Keating Channel in Toronto (2 Villiers St, Toronto, Ontario M5A 1B1 Canada).
