Marlon Chaplin Releases New Music Video “Modern Romance”
Toronto singer/songwriter Marlon Chaplin has just released a new music video for his song “Modern Romance”. “Modern Romance” is a wonderfully modern indie rock song, tinged with alternative and classic rock elements, showcasing Chaplins knack for storytelling. The song was recorded at Toronto’s Candle Recording, written by Chaplin and produced, mixed and mastered by Ewan Kay. The black mirror-esque video was directed and edited by Chaplin himself and is a commentary on control in relationships, via the metaphor of a video game. Chaplin said that
“The concept for my new video was to comment on the way we try – sometimes to our own detriment – to control our relationships. Usually these impulses are born out of fear + insecurity. But a relationship is always at its best when all parties are working together.”
The video seems extra relevant right now, as everybody seems to playing their relationships on hard mode in 2021. After a year of being locked inside together, the pandemic has put many relationships to the test, but if there’s one reminder this great new video by Marlon Chaplin has served as, it’s that relationships are a game best played with two players.
