Multi-Platinum-Selling Band, Marianas Trench Release New Music Video For “Lightning and Thunder”

Multi-platinum, JUNO Award-winning Canadian pop-rock band, Marianas Trench, has released the music video for their new single “Lightning and Thunder”.

The track is an uplifting anthem, guaranteed to leave a lasting mark on listeners and will appear on the band’s highly-anticipated forthcoming album, which is slated to be released later this summer.

The music video shows Marianas Trench delivering an emotionally charged performance in a large indoor studio space. Perfect silhouettes of the band paired with their signature theatrical pop-rock style, creates mystique around their triumphant return. Directed by Ben Knechtel (Carly Rae Jepsen, Jade Eagleson), the video showcases their journey spanning nearly two decades.

“We’re back and we haven’t forgotten where we came from! In the video for “Lightning and Thunder” we wanted to tie in the album theme of The Hero’s Journey. This song represents the call to adventure,” said Mike Ayley of Marianas Trench. “For Josh, that’s taking one of the biggest steps a person will experience in their life-becoming a father. In the video, we recognize Marianas Trench’s own journey as friends and as a band from our first days of touring through to our most recent experiences playing concerts around the world.”

Since their 2006 debut album, Fix Me, Marianas Trench has consistently raised the musical bar both in the studio and with their explosive live shows around the globe. Amongst their many accomplishments, the Vancouver-based four-piece band composed of Josh Ramsay, Matt Webb, Mike Ayley and Ian Casselman, has earned two certified double-platinum records, one platinum record, a certified gold-selling record and triple-platinum digital singles. They have also been awarded the 2013 JUNO Award for Group of the Year and achieved several chart-topping radio hits including “Stutter,” “Fallout,” and “Who Do You Love.”

The band is excited to kick off The Force of Nature tour this September and make stops across the US and Canada, including shows in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and culminating with the tour’s final stop in the band’s hometown, Vancouver, BC.
