One In The Chamber Release New EP The Cabin Sessions

One In The Chamber have released their third EP, The Cabin Sessions! Fans of the band are in for a treat, as the nearly entirely acoustic project marks a significant detour in songwriting and performance from the band, as heard in the lead single, “Tell Me When”.

In the spring of 2023, One In The Chamber and producer Myke Penney (The Jailbirds, The Wild High) got together in a cabin up north for a weekend with the goal of creating a record unlike anything the band had done before. The result of their effort is a nearly entirely acoustic and sees the band channel a wider range of influences that had previously been more sublime.

Since the release of their 2018 debut studio EP, One In The Chamber has been compared to the likes of Guns N’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queens Of The Stone Age, and July Talk. They are known for their hard hitting rock songs, and this album really gives their songwriting skills and musicianship a chance to shine brightly, no distortion just 4 great, honest and raw tracks!

“Tell Me When” marks the first single from the album, giving listeners a taste of what to expect from the rock band. In addition to working with Penney, the music video is also the first collaboration with Anthony Leclair and Marla Hardy. “Tell Me When” plays with the lyrical themes to tell a story of longing for days long gone. Give it a watch below!

The second track of the album Wander On takes things in an interesting new direction. Mixing bossa nova like motifs with acoustic rock, the track features great guitar licks that would perfect around the campfire. When the song comes to the solo at the end it really shows the prowess of what can be done on the guitar without any distortion or effects.

The third track All Ye Faithful starts with a more sombre tone before building into a beautiful chorus. This is one of those songs that even know you know it’s new, it’s so great it feels like it’s always been a classic and part of your life. The vocals on All Ye Faithful are really given a chance to shine overtop the acoustic instrumentation, and run the listener through a range of emotions throughout the song.

The EP ends with Ten Long Years, which instantly transports you to the visuals of a dark western movie. This track ends the EP with a bang, being the most aggressive of the four tracks and leaving the listener with a lasting impression. Featuring the only electric guitar, it reminds you of the work of Slash, fusing heavy rock licks into acoustic music perfectly to add to the feeling, without taking anything away. The vocals lean more towards Led Zeppelin, so if you’re a fan of those two bands, you’re going to love this. I love the way the line Rest In Peace is delivered, give it a listen and you’ll see what I mean but fair warning it might get stuck in your head all day like it’s been in mine!
