Killer Virgins – Karate Girl (New Video)
Toronto garage rock band Killer Virgins have just released their debut EP “Reboot” which is equal parts gloss and grit, and to go along with it they released a kick ass new video for their track “Karate Girl”!
With a song title that could have been lifted from a Quentin Tarantino movie, and a video that very well may have been inspired by one, Karate Girl, the effervescently catchy, riff-laden, empowering lead-off single from Reboot, is in many respects a track that aptly captures the band’s personality and the mission of the band itself.
At the centre of Killer Virgins is the irrepressibly upbeat and exceptionally talented vocalist/ guitarist/songwriter Samantha Weinstein. Weinstein says that Killer Virgins started as a love letter to old-school punk rock, like the Sex Pistols and the Ramones, and newer-wave alternative bands, like the Arctic Monkeys, the Strokes, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I’d say the letter is going pretty well at this point, as the band does a great job of capturing an energy, grit and emotion reminiscent of those bands. Click below to watch the new video and if you’re a fan, you’re in luck, Killer Virgins will playing in Toronto tomorrow at Sneaky Dee’s at 8:15, so you can see ’em in action!
