Toronto rap group Uptown Boy Band (consisint of Justin Trash, Joe Rascal and Roc Lee) performing at NXNE’s main stage. When I read the name I was wondering what kind of band I was about to go shoot, but as soon as they hit the stage I was happy to learn that the name is a bit of a jest. The trio is setting out to mix american hip hop sounds with korean language, culture, phrases and stories… which sounds like a typical k-pop boy band, but trust me, they are anything but what you would expect from that definition.
