Alphonse Bisaillon releases debut album “t.o.m. ou la trajectoire des perséides”

Singer-songwriter Alphonse Bisaillon unveils his debut album, “t.o.m. ou la trajectoire des perséides.” Alphonse is an artist who is deeply connected to his generation. He spent the past year taking refuge in his basement, torn up by Trump’s election win and the prevailing climate of despair. Looking back on his past, he asked himself how humanity could have come to this and how to love people despite everything.

The writing process was long, arduous, but fruitful. On this album, Alphonse experiments with styles, driving his poetry into the unknown. His songs draw inspiration from Quebec trad, Dubstep, and jazz in an eclectic yet surprisingly coherent mix that moves listeners and conveys the story he wishes to tell us. It is a pop-inspired work that dares to reinvent the rules, where Alphonse comes closer than ever to the very core of his songwriting aesthetic; poetry that is amplified, transported, and elevated by music.

t.o.m. ou la trajectoire des perséides tells the story of a young boy who leaves his native countryside to become a man. In the hall of mirrors where male role models are compared, we see their flaws and their beauty. Along the way, we encounter villains, philosophers, friends, models, and monsters.

But who is this t.o.m. who accompanies Alphonse on his journey? At times, brother, friend, lover, twin or mirror, he is the blueprint of what Alphonse could become. t.o.m. is the question we ask our fellow human beings when we ask them: “You Or Me?” Spelled backwards, it reads m.o.t. [w.o.r.d.] in French. It is the essence of silence, that which burns within us for lack of being expressed, mired in fear and ridicule: in short, it is love.

t.o.m. ou la trajectoire des perséides asserts that despite everything, men are fireflies who, on their best days, guide us through the absurdity of darkness.
