Apricity releases new music video “Allison Wonderland”

Apricity’s long anticipated new music video “Allison Wonderland” is out now! Be prepared to be taken down a rabbit hole in this new twisted pop rock fantasy as Apricity explores a love story gone awry, surrounded by a cast of Lewis Caroll and Tim burton inspired characters. When you hear the track it will come as no suprise that it was created by an A star team, including Juno-nominated and platinum awarded music producer Thomas McKay at Exeter Sound Studios, legendary mixer/engineer Vic Florencia (Olivia Rodrigo, Blue Rodeo, Snoop Dog) and Canadian songwriter Greg Critchley. The track serves a perfect combination of pop and rock, with driving guitars and drums and a hook that will be stuck in your head for days. The song explores the emotions of a person in a less than perfect relationship who uses imagination and fantasy to cope. It’s something most people who have been in a failed relationship have done, convincing yourself that everything is alright and that you don’t actually need to leave, even know logic might tell you otherwise our imaginations are a pretty powerful force when left unchecked.

The video was shot by Dropout Entertainment’s Jesse Read, Shannen Frost & Benjamin Gibson and Directed/Edited by Read. The video features Apricity as Allison, first portrayed as the Queen of Hearts, with her perfect King (played by Craig Laws) and surrounded by a group of fantastic and zany friends and followers. As the video progresses, the viewer can see her perfect king appear as her executioner, but everytime he convinces her to take another sip of her drink, and everything looks normal again, representing the way a manipulator can change his victims perspective, especially when the other party is trying to find an excuse to think everything’s alright. The first scene of the music video is the classic Alice In Wonderland tea party, shot in Puslinch and features Melanie Busst, Charmaine Carr, Melissa Lorr, Stella Lucia, Walter Scales II, Leora Singer & Abtin Esmaeilladib as a modern twist on classic characters like The White Rabbit, Cheschire Cat and The Caterpillar. It was an absolute blast shooting these scenes with this incredible cast as they let loose in this twisted tea party. The scene also includes a beautiful falcon perched on Apricity’s arm, something many singers may have been apprehensive about performing but not Apricity! The second scene was shot in Templin Garden in Fergus which provided the perfect backdrop for the fantasy theme, featuring beautiful oldschool brickwork leading right down to a stunning river. Apricity says

“We scouted many locations for this, but couldn’t get the right *feel* until we found The Templin Gardens in Fergus. The feeling needs to be there. It needs to suit the song and mood and what we are trying to create.” Adding

“My previous videos also have the fantasy-telling story factor, so this is a continuation in that sense. I want to create a story that leads the audience into a different world. Obviously the name of the song suits the visuals we created, with a little twist of Tim Burton-esque horror blended in”.
