Called Canada’s Hidden Gem, Soul/R&B Artist Ian Janes Releases Brand New Single “Share” and Announces Local Show Ahead of Forthcoming Album

Dedicated to crafting exceptional music regardless of genre, Canadian artist Ian Janes draws from Soul, R&B, Pop, Jazz, and more when creating his unique sound. A multidisciplinary artist in every sense of the term, Janes is a singer, songwriter, artist, and producer, who creates music across a variety of genres. His comprehensive understanding of music is exemplified by his diverse achievements, ranging from charting in Hip-Hop and Country music, becoming a Semi-Finalist in SiriusXM’s Top of The Country contest, to contributing to a JUNO nominated Blues album, despite primarily focusing on R&B/Soul in his own artistry. Janes is a six-time East Coast Music Award nominee and brought home the Album of the Year award from Music Nova Scotia. Early in his career, Macleans magazine listed him as one of 100 Canadians to watch, predicting his enduring career as an artist, songwriter and musician. His music has been streamed millions of times on Spotify alone and has been featured on CTV Morning Live, The Morning Show, CBC Radio One and SiriusXM. He co-wrote “So Low, Solo” on Matt Andersen’s 2023 JUNO nominated album, “Matt Andersen and the Big Bottle of Joy”, and both co-wrote and was featured on Classified’s CBC Top 20 reaching single, “Wonder”. Beyond reaching all corners of Canada, Janes’ wrote and recorded music for the internationally captivating HBO documentary “The Case Against Adnan Syed”, based on the stratospheric hit podcast, Serial. His music has been featured on the CMT/Nickelodeon hit drama, “Nashville”, and has twice received a 4/5 star review from Rolling Stone in France. From his upcoming seventh studio album, Janes is gearing up to release “Share”, a brightly-coloured Soul-Pop song advocating for the removal of distractions and spending quality time with a loved one. “Share” was just released on Friday, March 22 2024.

Co-written by Janes and his longtime, Grammy and Emmy nominated writing partner Jamie Hartman (Rag’n’Bone Man, Backstreet Boys), “Share” features David Cook (Musical Director for Taylor Swift) on keys, backup vocals by fellow Canadian artist, Zamani, live drums by Howard Artis and John O’Reilly Jr., and Nicholas D’Amato on bass. Janes also produced the track and performed the guitars, clavinet, synth, drum, and percussion programming.

In an era where technology has fragmented personal attention despite connectivity, Ian Janes’ “Share” is a joyfully vibrant and soulful anthem of a partner seeking meaningful connection. Inspired by the all too common occurrence of cell phone distraction, Janes’ first single of 2024 is a colourful love song aimed at cherishing time spent together. At the intersection of Pop and Soul, “Share” features layers of lush instrumentation which includes the subtle interaction of two live drum kits, textured keyboards, and a funky, Motown inspired bass line. Jubilant and romantic, Janes’ vocal performance moves with ease between registers, emphasizing the importance of being fully present during the hard-to-forget chorus, singing, “because half of you is not enough, I only want your undivided love”. His wide-ranging and emotive, Soulful tone bloom across the track, incorporating elements of both traditional and modern R&B. Relatable in any relationship, “Share” is a loving, warm, and timeless appeal to be mindful of distractions and to be present with loved ones.
