Interview With The Wilderness – Indie Week Rewind

Interview With The Wilderness – Indie Week Rewind

We had the opportunity to interview indie rock band The Wilderness at Revival during Indie Week 2019. They talk about how the band came together, the Kingston music scene, their single Fall (Despite What You Do) and more!

The Wilderness is a sextet based in Kingston, ON that has a massive and mighty sound – a propulsive and potent indie rock fusion that has earned them comparisons to Bruce Springsteen, Mumford & Sons, The National and The Lumineers.

A truly international band composed of a Brit, a Frenchman, two Americans and two Canadians, The Wilderness formed in 2015. With an independently released EP to their credit – Seminary Road (2018) and six singles, “If I Have to Die” (2020) “Pick You Up” (2020), “Virginia Sapphire” (2019), “Fall (Despite What You Do)” (2019), “Dancing In The Dive Bars” (2018), “Hurry Up And Wait” (2018) – The Wilderness have just released their debut LP “Until Tomorrow” on August 21st.

The Wilderness has everything it takes to make it big. Simply put, follow this band – not for the fame and glory but for the amazing music and powerful live performance that will remind you of why we listen to music in the first place.

In celebration of Indie Week’s return, Dropout Entertainment will be featuring “Indie Week Rewind” all this week, with photos, interviews, live videos and previously unreleased material from 2019’s festival. Indie Week is one of Canada’s leading festivals for independent music and we’re excited to reminisce in it’s glory before heading into it’s 2020 edition, which runs from November 10th to 14th.

The 18th edition of Indie Week Canada is switching gears by offering a 5-day online conference. 2020 has brought many changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in response, what would normally be an in person event taking place across multiple venues in Toronto, will now be online. This will allow for more international attendees and connections than ever before.

“Indie Week Canada is committed to using this online platform to be a leader moving forward in a positive direction. Connecting artists, industry and fans from around the world is more important now than ever before as the music industry adapts and evolves. Now is the time to log on, connect, and move forward together.”

-Darryl Hurs (Indie Week founder)
