Montreal’s Mad Parish Blends Classic Metal and Cosmic Myth in New Video “Hunted” Off New Album “The Dust Of Forever”

Montreal’s Mad Parish are back—and this time, they’re levelling up both sonically and visually. The progressive heavy metal crew has unleashed an epic animated music video for Hunted, a standout instrumental from their sprawling concept album The Dust of Forever. It’s a bold, cinematic leap that blends their old-school metal chops with haunting narrative-driven animation—and it absolutely rips.
Built on thunderous rhythms, soaring leads, and a sense of lurking danger, Hunted captures the band in full prog-metal stride. The video follows suit, telling a dark, mystical tale of pursuit and survival, framed by sharp animation that brings Mad Parish’s larger universe to life in vivid form. It’s a visual feast that matches the band’s intricate, riff-heavy sound—a kind of Iron Maiden-meets-Heavy Metal magazine fever dream.
The track is part of The Dust of Forever, Mad Parish’s most ambitious release yet: a 21-track sci-fi concept album that follows Joe, an immortal priest-turned-protagonist, through a universe unraveling at the seams. Rooted in NWOBHM and ‘70s prog, the album is packed with massive solos, tempo-shifting arrangements, and just enough chaos to keep you guessing. Think Rush meets Rainbow with a side of swords and sorcery.
For fans who want the full experience, the band’s collector’s edition vinyl is a gem. Featuring a red-and-blue two-record set (only 100 hand-numbered copies exist), it comes bundled with a Mad Parish patch, a signed metallic art print, and a 50-page comic book The Experience Hunter Chronicles that expands the album’s mythos.
According to frontman Josh McConnell, the concept has deep roots. “A song from our first album was inspired by a comic book. After Bob Eaglesham joined, he started imagining what would happen if that priest found out he was immortal—and from there, The Dust of Forever was born.” The band leaned fully into the story, building a world track by track that balances intensity with imagination.
With the release of Hunted, Mad Parish prove once again that they’re not just writing songs—they’re building worlds. And if this is your first time stepping into their universe, now’s the time to strap in.
