Metal Mayhem at Canadian Tire Centre: A Night to Remember

Pictures and Review by Cole Lewis Photography

The Canadian Tire Centre delivered a midweek blast from the past with a powerhouse lineup of metal acts that shook the walls and stirred the soul. The evening kicked off with English heavy metal outfit Loathe, whose dynamic set fused crushing intensity with moments of more tranquil passages. Their atmospheric transitions and raw energy primed the crowd for the sonic storm that followed.

Gojira brought the heat, literally. Their set erupted with flames the moment they hit the stage, balanced by icy fog cannons that cooled the air in dramatic bursts. This fire-and-ice motif extended into their performance: scorching vocals, relentless movement, and bone-chilling lyrics kept the audience riveted. Gojira didn’t just play, they conjured a visceral experience.

Then came the legends: Korn, proving after 31 years that their connection with fans is as strong as ever. They opened with the iconic “Blind,” igniting the crowd from the floor to the furthest seats. A dazzling strobe light show and immersive visuals synced perfectly with their sound, amplifying the atmosphere. Frontman Jonathan Davis commanded the stage with magnetic presence, even breaking out the bagpipes for a hauntingly heartfelt moment.

The crowd was fully engaged throughout, but nothing matched the eruption during “Y’all Want a Single”: a stadium-wide sing along with fingers pumping in unison. Korn closed the night with the explosive “Freak on a Leash,” leaving fans exhilarated and craving more.

It was a night of metal mastery, unforgettable performances, and a celebration of the genre’s enduring power. Korn, Gojira, and Loathe didn’t just perform, they reminded us why metal continues to move hearts and shake arenas.
