The Top 15 Music Festivals in Canada this June!
Festival season is finally here, and Canada has got some great ones coming up this summer. We’ll be breaking down the best festivals to check out each month. Here are the best June festivals to check out across Canada (In no particular order).
1. North By Northeast (Toronto, Ontario)
North By Northeast (NXNE) is an annual outdoor & indoor music festival in Toronto. NXNE is in it’s 25th year, it’s main component is live music but also features gaming, comedy, film, art and conferences. 2019’s edition brought headliners like Killy, Cold War Kids, Santigold and Anders to their main stage at Yonge and Dundas Square.
2. Montebello Rock (Montebello, Quebec)
Monetebello Rock (formerly known as Amnesia Rockfest and Montebello Rockfest) is an annual outdoor festival held in Montebello, Quebec. The festival claims to be the largest rock music festival in Canada. 2019’s edition will be offering the unique vibe and camping experience that festival-goers have been enjoying in Montebello for the past 13 years in a more intimate setting, a true nostalgic back to the roots edition for both long time and new festival-goers. Headliners include Black Flag, MXPX, Venom and Vulgaires Machins.
3. THE BEAUMONT BLUES & ROOTS FESTIVAL (Beamont, Alberta)
The Beaumont Blues & Roots Festival is Canada’s longest running 100% Canadian Content festival – the Beaumont Blues and Roots Festival! Since 2008 the festival has been presenting the Alberta capital region with the best in live Canadian blues, roots, folk, rockabilly and country music. With a simple goal of providing high quality live music for all ages, the BBRF has continued to grow and expand from our grassroots beginnings into a world class festival. Beaumont is located just 10 minutes south of the city of Edmonton. This years headliners include Matthew Good, Big Wreck and Bif Naked.
4. Dauphin’s Country Fest (Dauphin, Manitoba)
Dauphin’s Countryfest is Canada’s longest running country music festival and has a history of providing first class entertainment to the many loyal fans who have been coming back year after year. This year is the fesival is the 30th edition and they’re pulling out all the stops for countries fans, with headliners like Toby Keith, Jason Aldean and Brothers Osborne.
5. Electric Island (Toronto, Ontario)
Electric Island is a concert & picnic series that (normally) takes place on Toronto Islands Hanlan’s Point. The outdoor series is in it’s seventh year, and features multiple festivals over the course of the summer. Featuring international and local artists, the festival gives edm fans a chance to see their favourite artists spread over two stages, with the beautiful background of the Toronto skyline and waterfront. This shows headliners include Seth Troxler, DJ Harvey and Blond:ish.
6. Breakout Festival (Vancouver, British Columbia)
Breakout Festival is an annual two-day summer festival that began in June 2018 at Vancouver’s historic PNE Amphitheatre. The main focus of Breakout has been to showcase Vancouver’s up-and-coming hip-hop and R&B artists through all ages events. The rapidly growing popularity of Breakout has made past events a staple for breaking Vancouver artists while bringing together a network of fans and followers from around BC. This years headliners include ASAP Rocky, Rae Sremmurd and Young Thug.
7. Outlaw Music Festival (Toronto, Ontario)
The Outlaw Music Festival Tour will return for a summer 2019 leg in June, pulling together an eclectic assortment of performers from country, rock and Americana. The festival will be coming to Canada on June 21st as the tour comes to Toronto’s Budweiser Stage. Led as usual by Willie Nelson, this years headliners include The Avett Brothers and Matt Mays.

8. Sled Island (Calgary, Alberta)
Sled Island is an annual music and arts festival held in Calgary formed in 2007. Each June, the five-day festival showcases over 300 bands, visual artists, filmmakers and comedians as well as over 40,000 attendees in more than 35 venues. Each year, Sled Island selects a guest curator to help set the direction and tone of the festival through specialized programming choices and with their presence at the event. This years guest curator is Julien Baker and the headliners include Japanese Breakfast, Bully, Rapsody and Oblivians.
9. Festival of Small Halls (Prince Edward Island)
The Festival of Small Halls is an annual Small Halls Inc. event, taking place in rural venues across Prince Edward Island in the month of June. Held annually in June, the PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls brings exceptional shows to treasured places many visitors and locals alike have not yet discovered. Many Island performers will be returning to the small communities and rural stages where their careers began. A wonderful medley of roots, folk and traditional music will take place in cherished halls of all shapes and sizes, found down back country roads and along breathtaking coastal drives. Some of this years acts include Rura, Amanda Jackson Trio and Inn Echo.
10. Bud Light Dreams (Toronto, Ontario)
Bud Light Dreams Music Festival is a 19+ boutique festival experience for a discerning electronic music fan, taking place at East Island – Ontario Place in downtown Toronto, on the shores of Lake Ontario. A new luxury festival with a familiar feel, Dreams is a two day, three stage, outdoor, sensorial celebration of Toronto’s music and arts community. This years headliners include Zedd, Rezz and Louis The Child.
11. Tottenham Bluegrass Festival (Tottenham, Ontario)
The Tottenham Bluegrass Festival is an annual event which has been held in the community of Tottenham, Ontario since 1983. The Tottenham Bluegrass Festival presents a three-day stage show featuring well-known bluegrass bands from around Canada and the United States. This years headliners include The Canucky Bluegrass Boys, The Special Consensus and Nothin Fancy.
12. Escapade (Ottawa, Ontario)
Escapade Music Festival is an annual festival in Ottawa that made its debut in 2010 as a one day event in the Byward Market with Deadmau5 headlining it and a few hundred attendees. The ferstival has come a long way since, now booking huge acts and actracting huge crowds year after year. This years headliners include DJ Snake, Tiesto and Zeds Dead.
13. TD Toronto Jazz Festival (Toronto, Ontario)
The TD Toronto Jazz Festival has become known as one of North America’s premier jazz festivals produced annually by Toronto Downtown Jazz. What began in 1987 as an eight day showcase of jazz now attracts in excess of 500,000 loyal patrons annually over 10 days as more than 1,500 musicians entertain all across the city. This year’s headliners include Norah Jones, Diana Ross and Ghost-Note.
14. Vancouver International Jazz Festival (Vancouver, British Columbia)
The Vancouver International Jazz Festival is an annual music festival in Vancouver, British Columbia.The festival grew out of a local jazz scene that centred on Vancouver Co-op Radio (CFRO-FM), in the early 1980s. The jazz festival has been held every year since 1986, becoming the largest such festival in British Columbia. This years headliners include Wu Tang Clan, Herbie Hancock and The Roots.
15. Ottawa Jazz Festival (Ottawa, Ontario)
The Ottawa Jazz festival is an annual jazz festival now in its 29th year in downtown Ottawa. Presenting some of the most dynamic jazz artists on the scene, from the traditional to the avant-garde, the Festivall aspires to make the arts inclusive in people’s everyday lives, thereby adding an intrinsic richness and purpose. This years headliners include Norah Jones, Chicago and Omara.
