Pop Montreal announces live/digital hybrid for this year’s festival

I didn’t think we’d be announcing any festivals in 2020, but it turns out I’m wrong. Pop Montreal has just announced that they will be moving forward with a live/digital hybrid of event performances for this year’s festival, from September 23-27th. This year’s festival will feature Plants & Animals, Land of Talk, Antoine Corriveau, Flore Laurentienne, Clerel, Socalled, Paradis Artificiel, Lido Pimienta, Backxwash, Thanya Iyer, Tyleen & more. Keep scrolling to check out video’s from all of these artists.

Renowned for its robust programming of multidisciplinary artists, and deeply rooted in its local community, POP Montreal has announced they will continue to deliver a festival of discovery for all who seek a refreshing preview of emerging acts and critically acclaimed artists. This year’s edition will be adapted to ensure the safety of attendees and adhere to all COVID-19 restrictions. Focusing on local artists, the 19th edition will have fewer shows and maintain social distancing protocols at both indoor and outdoor venue spaces. POP Montreal will be producing concerts in several venues including the historic Rialto Theatre Complex, as well as at Le Ministere and Martha Wainwright’s community art/music/ café space, URSA. These shows will have very limited capacity, with advance ticket sales and seating room only. All events will be accessible online via the POP Montreal stream “Funhouse 2.0” for at home viewing. Digital viewers can experience the festival via popmontreal.com, which will allow attendees to wander through a virtual 2D rendering of the Rialto Theatre complex, with access to live-streamed concerts, and other panels and performances, as well as an art gallery, and more. Dedicated to providing Montreal and the international music community with stellar programming, the festival promises special surprise events in line with previous years that incorporate the community and backdrop of the city. Each secret show venue will be revealed at the last minute to ticket holders.

In addition to POP’s extensive music showcases, the festival will once again hosts a variety of programming including; Film POP, Art POP, POP SymposiumPuces POP, and Kids POP —the five day event is sure to have something for everyone.

PLEASE NOTE: If you plan on attending a show you MUST buy your tickets online in advance.
