(Premiere) Divine Astronaut Captivates With Alt-Electronic Cover “Only You”, by Yazoo

Alternative electronica duo Divine Astronaut have just released a brand new cover of “Only You” and we’re very excited to be premiering it with you here on Dropout Entertainment! The duo, featuring singer Livvy Holland and Producer/multi-instrumentalist Moonhead, describe their sound as night-time music that is downtempo alternative electronica with industrial and rock elements. This latest single is a reimagining of the 1982 classic written by English synth pop duo Yazoo. Their version takes the original and slows it right down to an almost heartbeat pulse that dances between a lullaby and a love song, meant to soothe the listener. Divine Astronaut’s signature dark undertones make their way into this lush electronic track, and pays tribute to their “unique style, blending their love for 90’s electronic acts with industrial rock elements” (Earmilk).

Vocalist Livvy Holland explains that Only You is “Divine Astronaut’s first love song. We wanted to create an intimate version of a song we intimately loved.

And create an intimate version they did! I don’t think it matters what kind of mood you’re in, this new track could put you into a more tranquil one. Livvy Hollands voice lends a beautifully hypnotizing aspect to this 80’s classic. If you’ve heard the original version of the song, you’ll hear a huge difference in the production and the way the duo’s approached the song, with Moonhead stripping it back from it’s original very synth heavy, very 80’s sound and turning it into a timeless sounding atmosphere that today’s listeners will easily get lost inside. This cover is a real testament to how Divine Astronaut is pushing today’s electronic music scene forward, while paying homage to it’s past. Influenced by bands like NiN, Portishead, Massive Attack, Bjork, Peter Gabriel and Radiohead, Divine Astronaut puts their own unique twist on electronica, pulling aspects from many genres and creating infections songs that seem to always seem near impossible not to lose yourself within.

Divine Astronaut are currently working on their debut album “Made Not In Berlin” which is due for release in 2021! Their singles “Whither” and “Undone” were released in Summer 2020 with videos garnering press worldwide including exclusive premieres on Earmilk, V13 and Tinnitist and features on Dark Beauty Mag, Loudhacker, Soundsphere and many more. ‘Ransom’ their follow up industrial rock track was released in October 2020.
