Johnny Nocash Returns With Bloody New Music Video “Midnight” & Album Ch.1

Canadian death country singer/songwriter Johnny Nocash has just released his first solo EP in 4 years Ch.1. 5 songs that sum up his mental state at the time with no holding back, coming from the isolation stage of 2020/21. Alongside the new album comes a bloody new music video for the albums first single “Midnight” and a brand new merch line. The video was shot on Nocash’s last night in Toronto, before selling off all his possessions and heading off for a life on the road and permanently moving into his van. The imagery and isolated atmosphere of the gruesome video, which was shot by Jesse Read of Dropout Entertainment, captures what goes on in the mind of a struggling man trying to grasps at the straws of life. Nocash had this to say about the Ch. 1

“In today’s cancel culture society it was time to really let things out and not just the gallons of liquor I had consumed over the course of 18 months. Originally, this was to be a full length album but with luck just trailing as usual all files were lost except the 5 songs that make up CH 1. It’s a bitter sweet way to express this ep as the songs that weren’t lost were the best way to summarize the mental state I was going through. Bitter, raw, honest and straight to the point is exactly how this body of music is executed. No bells, whistles or fancy recording tricks – this was all recorded in the apartment I lived in by myself with little to no skill and then passed along to first time mixer Cory Hofing. To say this is a diy piece is an understatement. Everything was done with zero money and done the way it always should be from a no budget perspective. The video for Midnight was also shot on a dime on my very last night in Toronto in the same apartment I recorded the ep; all in house so to speak. And now that I’ve packed my bags and decided to live from the comfort of my van this body of music is the perfect summary of what I was going through and what I needed to do to stay alive, literally.

Death country is not going anywhere and it’ll continue to be the most authentic music I make. I may piss you off (good!) sometimes the truth hurts and that’s my mission is to shed and scrape the bullshit from your eyes and show what it’s like to be a man in a glass house loaded with rocks.”

One thing I’ve always admired about his music is how raw and honest it is, but he really wears his heart on his sleeve on this one. It honestly sent a shiver down my spine the first time I heard Midnight. The new album, as well as a new merch line that includes a “Stay Dusty” t-shirt as well as patches, shot glasses and bandannas are now available at https://johnnynocash.bandcamp.com/ every purchase whether digital or physical will be directly invested into more music, so if you can help support this epic rock n roll journey!
