Emerging Artist Grace Marr Proves She’s Worth All The “Gold” With Her New Single

Toronto based emerging singer-songwriter Grace Marr independently releases her fierce female empowerment anthem ‘Gold’. With the moody synth bassline combined with Marr’s powerhouse vocals, the track shows Marr’s ability to create a dynamic Pop song, infused with hints of R&B, allowing listeners to appreciate the raw emotions she conveys in her lyrics.

“The hook for Gold came out of a chapter of life where I was hurt and, to be super transparent, pissed at people I’d considered to be friends at the time… I’d felt betrayed and undervalued,” shares Marr. “All that energy was channeled into Gold as it morphed into this song where I’m belting out ‘I’m worth all the gold’ as I take my power back. I hope whoever finds Gold is able to stand a little taller after listening to it like I have!”

Consistently writing and recording new music, Marr has no hesitations when it comes to pouring her heart and soul into her craft, creating songs from lived experiences. The songs she has been collecting over the past couple of years lead up to the release of her forthcoming EP, Supernatural, which is set to drop on April 5.

The EP outlines the journey Marr has been on to get to a place where she feels like she can embrace her humanity and divinity without compromise. The Alternative EP of five songs plus an outro was created in collaboration with GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Mohamed ‘Mido’ Elkhalifa (Don Toliver, Ging, f/k/a/, Frank Dukes, Diana Gordon, CVRE) and critically acclaimed guitarist and multi-instrumentalist TJ Whitelaw. The Supernatural EP will serve as a stepping stone to Marr’s full-length debut album which will come later this year.

Of her EP Marr says, “I had to get comfortable releasing music and telling stories that didn’t shy away from my humanity (and songs that quite frankly, I love!), but that in collection, point towards God in a more fully expressed way. Supernatural is the journey to get to a truer – Saving Grace.”

ABOUT GRACE MARR: Ottawa-born, Toronto-based singer-songwriter Grace Marr introduced herself to the music scene in July of 2023 with independently released, nostalgia-infused single ‘Twenty-Two Again’, following with her most recent boundary-breaking, spiritual single ‘Gin’. A multi-genre singer-songwriter and ‘alternative inspirational’ artist (a term she’s coined to embody her fusion of Gospel / CCM and R&B / Pop), she combines a raw and soulful sound with powerhouse vocals. In 2020 Marr released her debut single ‘Upside’ and followed with the raw and live recorded single ‘Self Care’ and powerful faith-focused single ‘Sanctuary’, both released in 2022. Spending the last few years honing her craft in the song writing space, Grace has notably written with Rodney ‘DarkChild’ Jerkins (Whitney Houston, H.E.R., Justin Bieber), Reach Records (Lecrae), and co-wrote ‘Where Would I Be’ on Maverick City Music’s TRIBL Anthologies album, sung by Ryan Ofei, Dante Bowe, Brandon Lake, and released shortly after the music group’s Grammy win for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. An alumni of the 2019 Honey Jam Canada emerging artist program, Grace was also the winner of the Slaight Music Studio Prize that same year. Grace offers authenticity throughout her music, pulling inspiration from faith and building a bridge between her spirituality and identity as a Queer artist. Grace is consistently working on new music and most recently has been recording and piecing together her debut album, Saving Grace, set for release in late 2024.
