Are you looking for a way to challenge your songwriting skills this year? The Songwriters Association of Canada has just the thing for you! The association is challenging songwriters from across the country to write a verse and chorus using only 21 words. Below are the instructions from S.A.C.

“Write a first verse and a chorus using 21 words. Your theme is “New Beginnings” and the deadline is Friday, January 15th at 11:59pm EST.

The following week we will meet via Zoom with the challenge participants and industry mentors where you will be given the opportunity to share your song, and receive & contribute valuable feedback! Once we receive your submission, you will be notified by email with more details about the date and log-in instructions for the Zoom meeting.

Conjunctions such as “The” “And” “But” “For” “Or” “So” as well as pronouns such as “I” “You” “They” will not count towards the word limit. Submit your lyrics below and/or an mp3 recording of your song.”
