The 2021 MVP project
Are you an emerging artist or filmmaker? Are you Canadian? Do you need funding to further your artistry? Then apply to the MVP project!
The music video production project is a fund set up to highlight and propel emerging Canadian artists and filmmakers through music video grants. The fund is a joint venture by RBCxMusic & Prism Prize who hope that with this grant the artists of Canada will be able to tell creative, rich, and diverse stories that touch and impact us all.
The fund is committed to supporting a wide and diverse range of Canadian talent and encourage people who identify as women, non-binary, LGBTQIA+, Indigenous, as a person with disabilities, or as a Person of Colour to apply for the grant.
The following round of grants opens up on October 1st at 9 am EST, set your calendars! The application period ends November 1st after which the artists selected will be eligible for grants ranging from $5000-$15000.
If you are worried about how covid may impact your production, have no fear. The committee is fully aware of how issues may arise during filming and so they encourage people to submit a note detailing their concerns and what your contingency plan is should they come to life.
Some past winners of the grant include Joyia, Nate Husser, and Milk & Bone. If you haven’t checked out some of these artists I highly suggest looking into them. My personal favourite video is ‘Light Down Low’ by DESIIRE. Such a great video and an amazing song!
