Victoria Anthony Celebrates Her 16th Birthday With The Release Of New Music Video “How Cute”

Today, Victoria Anthony celebrates her Sweet 16 with the release of her new high-energy, pop-rock single and music video, “How Cute”.

Co-written by Anthony and Juno Award nominee Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Nuela Charles) and mixed by Tony Maserati (Beyoncé, Alicia Keys), the song is a fierce, upbeat, guitar-driven track that examines a relationship gone bad.  

 Anthony tackles the song’s subject matter in an unshakeable and unapologetic manner. Running the gamut of emotions as the song progresses, she cleverly bounces from anger, bitterness, and vulnerability to joyful resilience, all the while poking fun at the situation as she racks up a big lesson in life experience.

“How Cute” is Anthony’s second single release of 2021 and the third music video the Vancouver-based recording artist has conceptualized, written, and co-directed alongside Brock Newman.

From her first single in 2019, Anthony has been steadfast in taking the lead in every aspect of her music. “If my name is on it, I need to be the one driving it,” she says with authority.

 Co-directing her music videos is not only an important extension of the creative process for Victoria but ensures her vision for the song comes to life on screen.  “On set, what happens behind the camera is just as important as what is on camera”.

 The playful and dramatic video for “How Cute” takes the viewer through 4 different sets that follow Anthony’s manic, orderly chaos.  “My favourite part of filming the video was getting to smash things” she enthusiastically explains. “I loved throwing the cake on the ground and making a hole in the wall with a bat. Even ripping the pillow with feathers flying everywhere was amazing. There is something so freeing about letting go like that”.
