Problems by Bleeker

I’ve talked about the Orilla band Bleeker on the show before, and I’m sure I’ll talk about them again. The band has been one of my favorite acts to see and to just listen to since I was introduced to them last year when their video took home a Canadian Independent Music Video Award for Best Music Video. Bleeker had a new album titled Self MAde scheduled for release earlier this year, however, we’re still waiting on that as the band decided to push back the release due to COVID-19. There’s something about the way the band writes and composes music that I guess I just find really compelling. This is Problems, from Bleeker’s highly anticipated new album Self-Made.

Stay Out by Elliott BROOD

Elliott Brood is a Canadian three-piece, alternative country band formed in 2002 in Toronto, consisting of Mark Sasso, Casey Laforet, Stephen Pitkin. The band’s style has been described as ‘frontier rock’ – I like that. On September 18 the band hosted a livestream release party for their new album Keeper.

“Dancing between melancholy and tenderness, the hardships and blessings of long-lasting relationships, it’s like letting light pour into a dark room.”

– Exclaim!

Keeper is a great album through and through and I would recommend giving it a listen. The album is out now on all major streaming platforms.

Loving Way by Taming Sari

I got a chance this week amidst my adventures wandering around my own home to get on an internet-powered call with Ottawa band Taming Sari. Since the band’s album release last fall, the band has opened for Planet Smashers and opened for The Lazys. They also played the intermission show at an Ottawa Senators game. The guys are still creating and aiming to have some more new stuff this year but are just happy they got to put out a piece of art in 2020 – and that’s a pretty cool way to look at it when a pandemic busts up your recording plans.
