(Premiere) All My Lies – Apricity (New Music Video)

Just in time for Halloween, Ontario alternative pop-rock singer Apricity (Mandy McDonald) has just released a new music video for her single “All My Lies” and we’re very excited to be premiering it on Dropout! The 1800’s horror style music video, filmed at a historic and haunted site is now available on Youtube, and the single is available on all major streaming platforms. McDonald teamed up with platinum awarded and Juno nominated producer Thomas Mckay of Exeter Studios and Juno award winning engineer Vic Florencia to bring this incredible track to life. Mandy said that the recording went “better than I ever could have ever imagined. The first time was a bit intimidating and I may well have muffed up a song I could play in my sleep. However Tom made me laugh and drilled me at the same time, so that was a huge sense of comfort! I left wanting to do it again.”

The video was filmed at Milton’s Country Heritage Park, a location that recreates rural life in the 19th century in Ontario. Scenes for the music video were filmed at The Lucas Family Homestead, a notoriously haunted building built in the 1830s that has been featured in Heritage Minutes and Anne of Green Gables. Scenes were also shot at The Mayne Corners United Church, a church built in the 1870s and originally located in Perth County, Ontario. “It’s incredible to have these stunning historic buildings set the backdrop for All My Lies” noted director, Dropout’s Jesse Read “Between the setting, the costumes, the amazing talent and the fact that we were filming in a legitimately haunted building, it all really tied together to create something incredibly spooky and beautiful at the same time.”

Set in the 1800s, the video explores the historic buildings and features ghosts, plague doctors, a ballerina and a real life raven. Apricity described the video shoot asA dream that became reality! I am addicted. I had the pleasure of working with Jesse, Benjamin Gibson & Shannen Frost, who were fun, organized and made it run smoothly even through a few minor hiccups.. It was an amazing experience, hard work but it was sure worth it. Words cannot describe..”

Apricity was born in Scotland and now happily resides in Puslinch, Ontario. She was immersed in Musical Theatre from a young age, and as a child she performed on UK television show’s Fun Factory and High Summer Extra. Her passion and love of music never left and as an adult she is now trying to bring her dreams into vision, and vision into reality. A lover of the pop rock style, Apricity is influenced by artists such as Alanis Morissette, Garbage and Evanescence.  “My goal is to leave a sparkle with my music, everywhere I go. People are going to love you or hate you – so just keep doing what you do!”
