Summer So Long – Melissa Bel (New Single)

Toronto-bred, UK-based singer/songwriter Melissa Bel just dropped a new single “Summer So Long” today and it could not have come at a more appropriate time. I don’t know if it’s just me, but the fact that it’s going to be September in a few days seems mind boggling. I have no idea where the summer went, and with the feeling that it should have been so much more, I’m not quite ready for it to be over. So this song was very easy to get lost in. But if you’ve been following Bel, you know that’s a common theme between her songs. An incredibly talented songwriter who has co-written for artists like Avril Lavigne, Bel know’s exactly how to draw the listener into a song, and how to keep them there. Her beautifully soulful voice likely helps with that too. Talking about the song, Melissa explained “I’m never ready for the end of summer. I hate watching the nights get shorter, knowing that the cold, dark winter is just around the corner. This song wraps up that feeling in the story of a fleeting summer romance that you’re not ready to let go of yet. It’s for afternoons on the beach, by the campfire, the drive home from the cottage, or whenever you want that summer feeling.”
