Dropout’s Top 25 Posts of 2020!

2020 was a crazy year to be part of the Canadian music industry, but here we are. We made it! As someone who used to spend multiple nights a week, every week out and about at events, I’m having some serious live music withdrawals and that’s something I’ll never forget about this year, but I’m happy to look back at all the ways artists and the industry found to keep the music in this country alive in 2020! Although the majority of Dropout’s content used to come from going to live shows & festivals, or interviewing bands in person we were able to pivot to keep the site going, and I’m sure glad we were, because otherwise we might have missed out on some of the truly incredible music released in Canada this year!

Before diving into your favourites of 2020, I want to thank everybody who tuned into Dropout Entertainment this year and helped us in our mission to support Canadian music! Our country has a scene like no other and it shone bright during such a dark year. At the start of this pandemic we had a meeting, and I mentionned that I was worried about music coming to a stop during all this, but I’m glad to say I could not have been more wrong. Although we couldn’t go out and cover bands live, Dropout recieved more music and submissions than ever before. Canadian artists did not let Covid 19 stop them, and we decided neither should we. As a few examples of how we’ve pivoted, in 2020 Dropout Entertainment did a soft launch of Dropout Radio, a station airing Canadian independent music 24/7, launched Quarantine Songs, a live streaming series which features live performances and interviews with bands across the country, launched a merch shop, in which we’ve been giving 100% of profits to the artists over the course of the pandemic, we launched Release Day with Alex Huard, a visually stunning new series of mini doc’s discussing artist’s latest releases from singles to Albums, and their strategy behind releasing it to the world, we started our first ever podcast called New Ones At Noon with Benjamin Gibson and we’re about to launch the 3rd edition of the Canadian Independent Music Video Awards which recieved more nominations than we could have ever imagined at the start of 2020! But enough about us, let’s talk about you, and your favourite moments of 2020! Below are the top 20 most visited posts on Dropout Entertainment of 2020!
